Speak After The Beep is a new series of informal evening talks based in Manchester featuring friends and heroes of Beep Industries, the makers of MoviePeg – the super simple stand for Smartphone and POPA – the big red button for your iPhone camera. Draplin will be bringing his hilarious ‘Tall Tales from a Large Man’ presentation to the UK for the first time this winter: hear his story, see his work and shoot the shit with one of the coolest guys that Beep has ever worked with. What: Stratum Where: Islington Mill, James Street, Salford. M3 5HW Hours: 4pm-9pm More Info: Susie MacMurray’s installation Stratum will be open on the evening of Christmas at the Mill. As part of Islington Mill’s 10-year anniversary artist Susie MacMurray has reinstalling her seminal work Stratum. Developed while she was in residence at Islington Mill as a graduate student in 2001, Stratum transformed the attic spaces of the building in a cloud of white duck down. The large-scale work subsequently became a central piece within Susie’s portfolio. Following her installation at the Mill, Susie has recently exhibited at the Museum of Art & Design, New York, the Arsenale in Venice for Spazio Thetis, and at the Royal Academy - GSK Contemporary, London.
